Assessing a Philanthropic Fund in Local Authority

Description

Neighborhoods in South Tel -Aviv received a donation of 2 million NIS from a philanthropic foundation, designed to improve life quality of their residents.

The challenge

The donor asked for an evaluation study focused on the social impact of the program. The budget was used to operate a variety of programs: Games for toddlers, education and employment for people aged 21 and over, groups of residents for community initiatives and more.

My involvement

As part of my work at Tel- Aviv-Jaffa Municipality, I led the evaluation of the program. Together with the lead team I built an evaluation program, tools (questionnaire, interviews and focus groups), analyzed the collected data that served to improve the social impact of the program.

The social impact

  • Improved the residents’ sense of belonging to the neighborhood, their professional education and their employment. The solutions provided by the education and welfare systems, were adapted to residents’ needs.
  • Improved the economic and social life of the residents, reduced the burden on the municipal welfare systems and attracted new populations to live in the neighborhood

The business Impact

  • Using data for reporting the donor and stakeholders (municipality, residents). Discussions with various groups in order to achieve the program's goals and improve its social impact.
  • Branding the municipality as an authority that cares about the residents.
  • Preserving workers by employing them in meaningful work.
