A Program of the Ministry of Education

Description

The Ministry of Education has invested in a program aimed to improve the quality of training Arab students for teaching in Arab schools. The program was implemented in ten colleges of education in Israel.

The challenge

Mofet Institute was asked to evaluate the effectiveness of the program in all ten colleges. the findings will serve as a basis for deciding how to continue the program.

My involvement

Leading Planning and managing an assessment group that includes responsibility for a team of academic researchers, a statistical consultant, a translator and a linguist. Together, we constructed and evaluated the program at ten Israeli education colleges, and created evaluation reports for target audiences (the Ministry of Education and the program leaders at the colleges).

The social impact:

  • The evaluation findings should reflect students' improvement in four areas (Arabic language, academic literacy, social involvement, and practical training) so that their students will have better teachers in these skills.

The economic impact

  • The findings are intended to help the Ministry of Education to assess the effectiveness of the program in order to decide which resources should be budgeted in order to achieve the program's goals.
